Projects
At Math Trails Lab Indonesia, we are dedicated to transforming mathematics learning into an engaging, interactive, and meaningful experience. We design and implement innovative projects that integrate technology, creativity, and real-world exploration.
Our current projects include:
1. STEM Trails
STEM Trails extend the Math Trails concept to include Science, Technology, and Engineering. Learners engage in interdisciplinary challenges that encourage creative problem-solving and innovation in real-world contexts.
- 2023: Development of STEM Trails (Adi Nur Cahyono-UNNES, Riza Arifudin-UNNES, Rozak Aditya-Zend Space, Tri Sri Noor Asih-UNNES, Nuriana-UNNES), funded by DPA UNNES.
- 2023-2024: STEM Trails (Adi Nur Cahyono-UNNES, Zulkardi-UNSRI Palembang, Safrudiannur-UNMUL Samarinda), funded by DRTPM Kemdiktisaintek RI.
- 2025: STEM Trails with Socio-scientific Issues (Adi Nur Cahyono-UNNES, Ahmad Badawi-UNNES, Mailizar-USK Aceh, Destina-UIII Depok), funded by RKI PTNBH.
2. Mathematics Travellers
This initiative invites students and educators to explore mathematics through travel and cultural exchange. Participants discover how math connects across cultures and communities, fostering global collaboration and appreciation.
- Mathematics Travellers has been established since 2025 and is led by Adi Nur Cahyono-UNNES.
3. MathCityMap Indonesia
MathCityMap Indonesia adapts the international MathCityMap framework to the Indonesian context. We create math trails that connect mathematical concepts with everyday life, allowing students to explore mathematics outdoors through real-world problem-solving.
- 2013-2017: MathCityMap Project for Indonesia (Adi Nur Cahyono-UNNES, Matthias Ludwig-Goethe University Frankfurt) funded by Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Jeddah Saudi Arabia.
- 2018: MathCityMap Indonesia (Adi Nur Cahyono, Miftahudin)
4. AR Math Trails
With Augmented Reality (AR), we bring mathematics to life! AR Math Trails allow learners to interact with virtual mathematical elements embedded in physical environments, enhancing spatial understanding and engagement.
- 2019: AR Math Trails Project (Adi Nur Cahyono, Sukestiyarno, Miftahudin), funded by DPA UNNES.
5. RoboSTEM
RoboSTEM integrates robotics into STEM education. Through programming, building, and testing robots, students learn critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills in a hands-on, inquiry-based setting.
- 2018: RoboSTEM Project (Adi Nur Cahyono, Zuhair Zahid, Pastitta-SEAQiM) funded by DPA UNNES.
6. 3D Printing Math Trails
This project combines 3D printing technology with mathematical exploration. Students design and print mathematical models to visualize geometric structures and understand abstract concepts through tangible objects.
7. VR STEM Trails
Using Virtual Reality (VR), we create immersive environments for STEM learning. Students can virtually explore mathematical and scientific phenomena, conduct experiments, and experience places that go beyond classroom boundaries.
8. AI Maths Dance
AI Maths Dance merges artificial intelligence, mathematics, and performing arts. By using motion-tracking and AI-based tools, students express mathematical patterns through dance, exploring symmetry, rhythm, and geometry in movement.
